ARI ROSSEN is an award-winning writer, performer & musician from Northern California, dedicated to crafting stories that captivate audiences and challenge societal norms. His creative work is like a piece of pound cake; it may seem light on the surface, but there are rich and complex layers underneath.
Ari’s debut indie film SOUND/VISION (Dir. Jeremiah Kipp) received distribution on LGBTQIA+ streaming network Revry and PlutoTV, and won the Audience Award for Best Short at East Lansing Film Festival. SOUND/VISION also screened at over a dozen festivals worldwide, including San Jose International Short Film Festival (U.S Premiere); Catalyst (formerly ITVFest) and SOHO International Film Festival (NY Premiere).
Ari has garnered millions of views in viral videos for CollegeHumor Originals, directed by award-winning actor/writer/director Josh Ruben (WEREWOLVES WITHIN - Tribeca/IFC; SCARE ME - Sundance; ADAM RUINS EVERYTHING). Other destinations featuring Ari’s work include Funny Or Die (Staff Pick), Women In Comedy Festival (alongside Tig Notaro and Wanda Sykes) and The People’s Improv Theater.
Currently, Ari is developing a slate of new projects, including:
• SIGNIFICANT OTTER: a short, animated musical about an otter seeking love in an ocean of possibilities
• BEHIND THE CEREAL: a dark comedy series that charts the rise & fall of America's iconic breakfast cereal mascots
• NAIN ROUGE: a horror feature set in the great city of Detroit, and inspired by actual Michigan folklore
In his free time, Ari loves exploring the great outdoors and strives to provide an adequate kingdom for his tuxedo cat, Batman. He’s an unabashed fan of Diet Dr. Pepper (tiny cans preferred), Dolly Parton and a growing collection of houseplants. Ari is a proud graduate of Northwestern University, and an active member of Filmshop, AEA and SAG-AFTRA.
